Having a carpet in your tent not only preserves the life of the footprint in your tent, it also makes it warmer and more luxurious underfoot particularly on cold mornings.

 

These carpets from Outwell benefit from a rugged construction, this consists of a PVC Backing and a Lylex soft carpet material on top.

 

Tent groundsheets, particularly sewn in ones can wear rapidly if not protected with a carpet during use, once the groundsheet has worn, there is a possibility that it will not be as waterproof as when it was new.

 

Groundsheet:

A Footprint Groundsheet is an optional extra that you can purchase for your tent. It is usually made from the same material as your tent sewn-in groundsheet. The reinforced PVC polyester layer sits between the base of the tent and the ground. It will be the first thing you put down before pitching the tent which acts as a base to stop you from getting muddy and wet when kneeling down.

 

It will keep the groundsheet of the tent clean and will help to protect it from abrasion and damage. It should be entirely covered by the tent to prevent rain from being channelled under the floor.
